MOFCOM spokesperson responds to questions regarding the quality of coronavirus testing kits exported to the US

Q: In a press interview on 27 April, White House trade adviser Peter Navarro claimed that the coronavirus testing kits provided by China are of poor quality. What’s your comment?

A: Such accusation is groundless and irresponsible. Since the international pandemic began, China has been communicating and working with certification and registration agencies of many countries, including USFDA, to ensure the anti-virus supplies we export meet their quality standards. Up to now, China has exported tens of millions of coronavirus testing kits, winning wide applause from the international community. China has not received any complaints from American buyers or users over the quality of these testing kits.

As COVID-19 continues to spread around the world, all countries need to jointly fight this common enemy of mankind. We urge some people in the US to stop groundless accusations of Chinese products or smearing China’s image. What they should do is to contribute to the pandemic response in the US and to facilitate China-US cooperation in combating the virus.
